Climate change is—by definition—both global and local at the same time. Arguably, it’s that dual reality that is a root cause of mankind’s inability to make the changes that would bend the arc of our planet’s evolution in ways that would benefit most people in most places.

The ongoing UN climate summit in Belém, Brazil, is only the most recent proof point. Worrying about Everything Everywhere All at Once doesn’t work because it overloads global as well as local political circuits.

So, let’s focus on two regions whose evolution will impact lots of people in lots of places: the Amazon and Congo River Basins. If those Basins continue to head in the wrong directions, the results for people in the Americas, Africa, and Europe will be catastrophic. Almost No One, Nowhere contests that statement.
