Anne E. Goldfeld, M.D. is Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, Senior Investigator in the Program in Cellular and Molecular Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital, and founder of the Global Health Committee.
Her work as a physician-scientist has been at the interface of scientific research, delivery of medical care, and human rights, including establishing and scaling up programs to provide access to TB (including drug-resistant TB) and AIDS care in Asia and Africa, finding a superior regimen of HIV/TB treatment in Cambodia that has changed international practice, and starting one of the world’s first landmine prevention programs. Her approach of nesting basic scientific discovery within clinical care networks has allowed her to make fundamental discoveries about the genetic and molecular mechanisms of TB and HIV while developing and instituting treatment and care strategies that have benefited countless individuals worldwide.
