Alice Barbe is a French social entrepreneur and democracy activist, currently President of the Academy for Future Leaders (Académie des Futurs Leaders), which she co-founded in 2022 to support civic leaders entering politics and promoting progressive values. She is best known for co-founding and serving as CEO of SINGA (until 2022), an international organization supporting refugee inclusion across Europe and Canada. She was selected as an Obama Scholar at Columbia University (2018-2019), the first cohort of the Obama Foundation Scholars program, and her work has been recognized by Ashoka Foundation and the Aga Khan Foundation, which awarded SINGA the Global Pluralism Award in 2019. She serves on the board of directors of Mouvement Impact France and made legal history in France as the first woman to successfully win a lawsuit against online harassers after receiving hundreds of targeted threats. In 2024, the Academy launched “Et Maintenant!” (And Now!), a free online platform for training in democracy defense. Her book, “On ne naît pas engagé, on le devient” (One is not born an activist, but rather becomes one), was published in 2021, and she was featured in the documentary #SalePute on online misogyny. She received the Young Positive Leader award from Jacques Attali in 2022.
