Surya Karki

Surya Karki is a Nepali social entrepreneur and education advocate, currently making a transformative impact as the inaugural Global Pathbuilders Fellow at Christel House—selected from 2300 candidates—and the future founding CEO of Christel House Nepal. His work is deeply informed by his personal story of resilience, having dedicated his career to expanding access to quality education.

His passion for educational access drove him to found and lead United World Schools (UWS) Nepal for ten years, during which time he built and ran 87 schools, benefiting 22,500 children. Following this period, he served as the Global Development Director for UWS. Karki’s commitment to innovation also extends to his co-founding of Bloom Nepal Schools and the Diyalo Foundation, alongside his role as co-founder of Delish Dairies, Nepal’s first Greek Yogurt brand.

His global impact has been widely recognized, including being named the sole Nepali ‘Earth Impact Hero’ 2024, listed on Forbes’ ’30 Under 30 Asia’, and receiving the Prince of Wales and UNILEVER Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneurs Award. A distinguished Schwarzman Scholar, he holds a master’s degree from Tsinghua University and a bachelor’s from the College of the Atlantic.
