Edith Ndiwa

Edith, a visionary advocate for girls’ education, hails from a pastoral and marginalized community in West Pokot County, Kenya. Driven by a deep-rooted belief in the transformative power of education, she established a community organization dedicated to providing girls with access to literacy and learning opportunities. Edith’s journey with education began in an unlikely setting – a grazing field. While tending to cattle, she learned her first English word, “HOME,” a testament to her inherent curiosity and thirst for knowledge. This early spark was further ignited by the animated film “Stuart Little,” which ignited a fire in her heart, taking her – not physically, but through the power of imagination – to New York City and Central Park.

This experience planted the seeds of a dream, fueling her desire to expand her horizons and champion opportunities for girls in her community. Edith aspires to be a role model for the girls she serves, demonstrating the transformative power of believing in one’s dreams and the essential role education plays in unlocking potential. As she tirelessly works to ensure girls in her community have access to the knowledge and resources they need to thrive, Edith embodies the power of individual action and the transformative impact of education for all.
