Hanna Poikonen

Dr Hanna Poikonen is a neuroscientist and biomedical engineer holding a PhD in neuroscience of movement, music and dance from the University of Helsinki. She has completed her postdoctoral research at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) on brain functions of math expertise and embodied cognition. Through various personal research grants, she leads brain research projects in Switzerland, Finland, Sweden and Canada focusing on expertise in mathematics, politics, music and dance, and collaborates in projects on rehabilitation of mild cognitive impairment and schizophrenia.

She is the founder of the WiseMotion Community and AIVO Brain Wearables. Through her WiseMotion method on movement and neuroscience, Hanna mentors higher executives, trains healthcare professionals, and offers rehabilitation to people living with MS disease or dementia, and people recovering from stroke. WiseMotion leads and partners in consortiums co-funded by the European Union and has been featured in Harvard Medical School, CERN IdeaSquare, Six Senses, Intelligent Change Summit, Alzheimer Society of Finland, Finnish Neuro Society, Stockholm University of the Arts, Theatre Academy of Uniarts Helsinki and Sanitas health insurance.

For Hanna, leadership is about listening to the collaborators, employees and the society at large, and guiding towards the future goals with encouragement and sincerity.
