Umama Fatema

Umama Fatema is a prominent Bangladeshi student activist, youth leader, and advocate for social justice and educational reform. She graduated from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Dhaka, where she actively engaged in student politics and advocacy.

Umama rose to national prominence as a central figure in the July Uprising of 2024, a landmark student movement demanding quota reforms and greater transparency in public institutions.

As a key coordinator and spokesperson for the platform Students Against Discrimination, she tirelessly campaigned for the rights of marginalized groups and challenged systemic inequalities in education and governance.
Her leadership style is characterized by clear communication, strategic planning, and a commitment to inclusive dialogue. Umama has worked to mobilize thousands of students across Bangladesh, inspiring a new generation to become politically aware and socially responsible. 

Previously, she served as the General Secretary of the Dhaka University branch of the Bangladesh Chhatra Federation, where she gained experience in organizational management and grassroots activism. Although she stepped down in 2024 to reassess her political direction, she remains deeply involved in youth empowerment initiatives.

Beyond activism, Umama is a passionate advocate for women’s rights and gender equality, frequently speaking out about the challenges faced by female activists in Bangladesh. She emphasizes the importance of education, awareness, and constructive engagement as tools for social change. With a vision to create a more equitable and just society, Umama Fatema continues to inspire and lead through her unwavering dedication to youth empowerment and democratic values.
