Samah Hadid

Samah Hadid is an advocate and writer based in the Middle East. She currently serves as the Global Executive Director of Musawah, a Global South-based movement advancing the rights of women and girls in Muslim contexts. With extensive experience in the humanitarian and development sectors, Samah has held senior leadership roles at Oxfam and Amnesty International, and has advised United Nations agencies on human rights issues, including as a fellow with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

She holds academic qualifications in political science and international human rights law. A regular commentator on human rights, gender, and humanitarian issues, Samah’s writing has been published in The Guardian, CNN, The Independent, Asia Times, and Al Jazeera. She has also co-authored several books on social justice and policy reform. Samah has also received recognition and awards for her campaigning work in human rights. Through her work, Samah is committed to advancing equity, justice and driving transformative change to uphold the rights of marginalised communities.
