Lili Sára Balogh is a Hungarian agronomical engineer and leading voice for agroecology and food sovereignty in Europe. Holding degrees in bioengineering and agronomy from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and Universidad Técnica de Lisboa, she integrates scientific expertise with systems thinking, grassroots action, and international policy engagement.
Formerly President of Agroecology Europe, Lili continues to serve as President of the Hungarian Agroecology Network Association and sits on the Steering Committee of the European Citizens’ Initiative for the Right to Food. She is also an active member of several international alliances and networks working to advance just, resilient, and sustainable food systems. She represented these movements in high-level policy dialogues, including the EU Strategic Dialogues on the Future of Food and Agriculture, and played a key role in convening the 2023 Agroecology Europe Forum in Hungary.
Since 2018, she has managed her own regenerative farm in Debercsény, Hungary, applying agroecological and permaculture principles in practice. Her international experience spans Wales, Cuba, and Canada, where she has advanced community-based agriculture, food resilience, and sustainable food systems.
A Landecker Fellow with Humanity in Action (2022–2023) and EU Climate Pact Ambassador, Lili has led initiatives such as the EIT Food Regenerative Agriculture Revolution and held leadership roles at Greenpeace Hungary and Védegylet.
Fluent in five languages, she bridges research, advocacy, and practice to foster food systems that are ecologically regenerative, socially just, and rooted in community wisdom.
