Gregory Bateson was a celebrated American anthropologist, philosopher, author, naturalist, systems theorist, and filmmaker. His work has had a profound influence upon the Tällberg thinking and process.

We are very pleased to welcome his daughter Nora Bateson for a conversation and screening of her award winning film: ”An Ecology of Mind – A Daughter’s Portrait of Gregory Bateson.”

While Gregory Bateson’s ideas such as “the double bind” and “the pattern which connects” are well-known and employed across academic disciplines, much of his work has often been seen as inaccessible to most people. At every turn, Bateson challenged people to think in new and different ways. With this film, Nora Bateson brings her father's work to new audiences by engaging us with his groundbreaking ideas, through personal perspectives and the intimate stories he used to first express his insights.

It is an inspiring film, but it is also timely. Gregory Bateson’s rigorous and prescient pursuit of thinking differently opens up fresh new and practical approaches to solving the unprecedented challenges facing both humanity and nature.
